deserts tranquil as time

then man dawns

his title neither Abraham nor Israel nor Ishmael

and a rainbow falls like snow drifts amid fractions of colour

decorated sparsely like a woman at birth gives up all her joy surrendered in the face of great pain

then bears fruit rich and abundant when summer rains and her issue blink at the sudden dawn of life as a force of nature compels that she exists

at night the stars glitter and beneath them the earth is cold as ice

the rays that warm then vanish unimpeded by clouds imploring warmth as alternate rains swirl in vortices of confusion

the hills are peppered with low scrub red or flaming orange

wanderers of these spartan plains progress their voyages with degrees engrossed by Universites of strange fraudsters

the seas of their transit are metaphors alone

footprints of their struggle buried by sands follow inexorable as history opaque to scholars of Aramaic or Greek

day breaks and the Sun electrifies the last child a planet in its orb

the child knows the end time even before its birth is done

and a rainbow falls like snow drifts amid fractions of colour

then man dawns

his title neither Abraham nor Israel nor Ishmael
