    1. Marek, I really appreciate that you have taken the time to read my poems.

One of the problems is that the 1090 works do not appear chronologically on the website, as the best and often shortest of them are all written in “2017” as a kind of arbitrary place of concentration like a black hole. A literary device if you will.

I would like to publish a hard copy book, and Chat GTP agrees this is possible but suggests radical pruning of the poems presented to as little as 50. I can see Chat’s point that there are relatively few recurring themes which are foundational and the armature of my thoughts.

This means than 100 poems concerning totemic themes such as war, loss, angels, God, transcendence, stars and lovers do not all need to be included in a publication. I must be disciplined enough to present only very the best.

Of course in the myriad array of thoughts and letters flooding the pages like the doomed stairwell of the Titanic, to choose just 1 or 2 is as painful as choosing your favourite child.

I would have difficulty dismissing scores of equally good poems, from a selfish psychological point of view.

For now I am happy to carry on.

A patient of mine has written a one thousand page intense trilogy about to be published, the exact subject of which eludes me just now but has kindly included 15 of my poems to illustrate the themes which resonate with his literary imagination.

So perhaps he is on the right track.

I love to show them to friends and patients. They read the piece, take in the Word Press image, become speculative and quiet, then read again before saying anything, their head tilted as if at prayer.

I’ll separately email you concerning more general matters such as your family and mine, as I am not sure this missive will reach you.

      Best wishes, David.

  1. I am working on a publication Marek.

Baby steps, I need someone with quite advanced IT skills to make it possible. You are correct about 300 poems out of a thousand stand out, of these perhaps 100 could be published. There are a fleet of poems but just 15 or so recurring existential themes. So I spoilt for choice !
