Voyagers

Snows swirl decorous as night

Cabin warmed by crackling fire

Safe haven from the woods

Wolves stalk soundlessly as they lope easily beyond the ebb and flow of the forests their eyes flashing like alchemy in the dark

The voyager and his child huddle in their safehaven as fiery embers shatter fatigued into ash by the break of pallid dawn

In the morning they head home unsure in which direction as the footprints of their journey to the cabin were filled in by delicate snowflakes under the stars asleep

The day yields to brilliant sunshine as if to sharpen their sense of the frost retreating

A river’s flooded banks slows their process but as pilgrims pledge before the cross they will persevere

As eagles weave tapestries in the sky

They will find a way
