on the altar of Eglise Sainte-Etienne du Rouvray
the priest was killed and now he waits for his friend
the Imam Mohammed to join him
on a different star at a different altar they will light a candle together
and greet each other warmly
the assassins died too that day
they are invisible now their souls forfeited to a foreign universe
they held no candle that day
for the eyes of God are colour blind when blood is spilt
and no river of blood can put out a candle burning
no matter how fragile
