twin towers of many tongues vanished

as if made of little more than dust

bits of paper littering the sky like confetti

the people skittering powdered grey in the streets

like noctambulant creatures surprised

that light itself was confiscated in an instant

the falling man said nothing or if he did no one heard him

death indifferent to gender wealth age power

not even that
