because he is sensible of his powers
and literature knows no better judge than he
instead he carries a lantern to the past
and revisits its horrors by means of light
for to give witness to the folly of men
yet seeks no judgment in the weighing of them
his words are peaceful and quiet
like a prayer beckons the better angels of the dawn
he knows the heart of his journeymen
