gathered by the side of the river
some giant tentacle of the sea caressing the land
it lay in sheets of glass
and disappeared at the edge of the light
giant black cumulus clouds warming the distance beyond time
beyond circumstance
and black swans glided by
an ornament to creation
in the west
shot silver light bathed the newly weds in ribbons of gold
and time
yet to be written in the souls of their children
stood still
they had pledged their troth before God
