the colours of the sky at night

washed away the vitality of the sea

and rendered it silver then granite

the Sun was drowned

and no man could say for sure where it was or if indeed

there were any purpose in bringing it back

a mystery of driftwood at dawn

decorated the beach like a libation

as if scattered there by the random breath of the Gods

a thing heretofore unknown on earth

to exist
