Hi Marek,
This last brace of works are very much from the dark side, too much sadness really. The final one Phoenix is a kind of work in progress like life so I have left it hanging in mid air. The picture wrote the poem. The notion of the Phoenix bird appears a few times in my poems and it is a wonderful symbol of hope and light even in the face of total destruction. In the second poem of the whole set ” the journeyman shelters a child his face a portrait of fear …”
I write at the finish “the baby gasps for oxygen in the pale fire of its resurrection like a phoenix bird”
The great photo of an impermanent cloud like a phoenix shaped the evanescent quality of what I was driving at – within seconds it unravels and is never to be seen again…
That is about the substance of any of us.
