the lover’s grief lay cresting beyond vast canyons

in the mourning they rose to speculate the future

they faced each other the lovers

small white clouds leavened the horizon as powders of every colour scurried across the land then burst at dawn to pepper the earth in strange condiments

the risen Christ in the morning sun dazzled all believers

they knew no path the lovers as a baby is gathered in her mothers arms to orient the bright new noisy world of its birth innominate

in the future the duet grasped their fates in the past

night fell and every planet swirled like confetti at a joyous wedding

bejewelled petals cherise and all fragments of colour

were anoited by a nacreous mourning moon

they faced each other the lovers
